Sunil ‘Sunny’ Gavaskar was one of the greatest opening batsmen of all time. He set world records during his career for the most Test runs and centuries, and held the record of 34 centuries for almost two decades before it was broken by Sachin Tendulkar. He was the first player to score centuries in both innings of a Test match thrice. Since he retired, Gavaskar has served as a television commentator, analyst and columnist. He is the recipient of both the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, and has written several books including Sunny Days – Sunil Gavaskar’s Own Story, Idols, and Cricket World Cup: The Indian Challenge (co-authored with Ashis Ray).
